I don't know exactly how I feel about this. I don't feel that I know enough about healthcare to determine what the long-term consequences of this law may be. Even so, I had really hoped that the bill would not pass, just because of how controlling it is. For example, cheap college health insurance student no one can now decide that they do not want health insurance. There is no opting out. If you don't get health insurance, you are hit with a huge fine, up to 5% of your income. Those who want insurance will be told how much they should have in a "one size fits all" plan.cheap college health insurance student The only problem with one size fitting all is that in a country this diverse there will always be some people who don't quite fit.I don't know how this will affect doctors either, but I know that not many medical students will want to go into family practice. Why would they? The pay will be horrible (from Medicare/Medicaid), the hours long, the lines out the door.cheap college health insurance student I feel for the current family doctors and wonder to what extent this bill will change their practice and life.
These changes don't bother me as much as the fact that we as American citizens can no longer make our own choices in health care. Obama says that we can, but those choices are only on deductibles and co-pays,cheap college health insurance student not the coverage itself. It is our freedom of choice that has been taken away, and that frustrates me more than any of the other stipulations of the bill. I hate to think of what freedoms will be taken next.
